Eric Adams, alcalde de Nueva York, ha alertado a los ciudadanos de la calidad del aire de la ciudad, manifestando que esta empeorará a raíz de los fueres incendios en Canadá.
La situación es alarmante, el cielo neoyorquino se encuentra bajo una ola de humo de color naranja, que podría afectar seriamente la salud de sus habitantes.
«Se prevé que la calidad del aire se siga deteriorando a lo largo del día, por lo que la alerta seguirá en vigor al menos hasta este jueves por la noche», aseveró el alcalde en su cuenta de Twitter.
El mandatario ha aconsejado a los ciudadanos utilizar máscaras, especialmente a las personas con problemas respiratorios o cardiacos, a los niños y adultos mayores y ha instado a limitar en la medida de lo posible las actividades en el exterior.
En este sentido, ha informado de que los colegios permanecerán cerrados por el momento a la espera de que la situación se revierta.
